Owned and operated by the Loy Family, four family members play an active role in the management of The Markets. They are: Harley Loy, Barry Loy, Del Loy, and Jeff Loy.
Having founded Supermarket Operations in 1969, Harley raised his boys in the community and let them work their way up in the company, if they chose to do so. Semi-retired from the daily management of the business, Harley is pleased to see his family’s growth and leadership in the markets served by Supermarket Operations. His experience has led the way and today, three of his sons hold key positions in the company.
Having begun his career in the family business bagging groceries and mopping floors back in 1974, Barry worked his way up and managed several locations from 1979 until 1987 when he took over as manager of Natchez Market. After his success in the early development of that store, Barry was promoted in 2000 to Retail Operations Director for all stores.In keeping with Supermarkets Operations philosophy and commitment to the area, Barry has also served on both the Vidalia and Natchez Chambers of Commerce, and was awarded the Mississippi Retailer of the Yearaward in 2005. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Associated Grocers, the retailer-owned Distribution Center of which Supermarket Operations is a member-owner.Barry graduated from South Natchez High School, attended Gulf Coast Bible College and Co-Lin, Natchez. He and his wife, Sue, have three children: Josh, Ryan and Hannah; and two grandchildren. Avid LSU and New Orleans Saints fans, Barry also enjoys golf and traveling.
Born in Malvern, Arkansas, Del’s first job was with Safeway Supermarket in Monroe, LA. Following his family’s move to Natchez in 1969, he began working in the family business and currently works in the home office of Supermarket Operations and also writes articles for the local newspaper.Upon graduating from Natchez High School in 1971, Del attended Mid-America Christian University, receiving his B.A. in Bible and Ministry. An ordained minister and church planter, Del has pastored churches in Texas, California and Natchez.Married to Renae, they have two children: Jeremy and Amy; and four grandchildren.
A graduate of South Natchez High School, Jeff attended Gulf Coast Bible College in Houston. He began working with Supermarket Operations in 1979 and moved to Louisiana in 1993, when he became manager of Ball Foods (near Pineville). With the company’s further growth, Jeff was promoted to Merchandising Director for all stores in 2003.Jeff and his wife, Keri, have two children, Kristin and Chris. And, Jeff professes to be an avid Saints fan!!
